At the heart of history

Preserving the memory of those who crossed the Atlantic to liberate our country.

Passionate about the history of the Second World War, Florent spent several years travelling across the United States, recording the stories of American veterans.

With a background in history, business and tourism, he worked at the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer before becoming a guide on the battlefields of Normandy.

Meeting the last witnesses of this history reminds us why it must never be forgotten.

Passionate about the Second World War since his teenage years, Dylan gradually devoted himself to preserving and sharing the stories of veterans.

With a background in tourism, he has built strong connections with former servicemen through numerous meetings and exchanges. Several trips to the United States with Florent and Jenny gave him the opportunity to meet some of the last veterans who helped liberate Europe, ensuring their stories continue to be remembered.

Behind every name engraved on a memorial lies a story that deserves to be told.

Originally from Bedford, Virginia, Jenny has a special connection to the history of D-Day. Her hometown paid a heavy price on June 6, 1944, particularly on Omaha Beach.

Before moving to Normandy, she spent more than seven years working at the National D-Day Memorial, where she began as a volunteer before eventually becoming the site’s director.

The stories passed down by our grandparents become a memory we have a duty to preserve.

Passionate about the Second World War since childhood, Jonathan grew up listening to his grandparents’ stories of the French Resistance and the Battle of the Bulge.

After spending two years working in Wisconsin, where he improved his English and discovered American culture, he decided to devote himself fully to sharing and preserving the memory of the young men who came to liberate France.

Sometimes, a childhood curiosity becomes a lifelong passion for history.

Originally from France’s Atlantic coast, Alan has been passionate about the history of the Second World War since he was around seven years old. Growing up surrounded by the remains of the Atlantic Wall sparked a curiosity that has never left him.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in History, earned in 2021, and a Master’s degree in History from the University of Poitiers, completed in 2023.

Following his studies, his passion for history took him to the United States, where he conducted his own research in the National Archives in Missouri.

His passion for history and meticulous approach led him to join the team, where he now shares the stories of those who came to liberate Europe from oppression.

Have you watched the new video my friend Joey van Meesen released on his YouTube channel, SNAFU DOCS ?

As always, we’re just having fun exploring different areas, some well known, others much less so. This time, we visited the area with Joey & Titi Militariaww II where John Hawk, the only Medal of Honor recipient of the 90th Infantry Division in Normandy, took part in the fighting at Chambois during the closing of the Falaise Gap, actions for which he was later awarded the Medal of Honor

We shared John Hawk’s story while exploring the area, looking at photographs from 1944 and comparing them with the landscape as it looks today through then-and-now photography. We also talk about the actions of the 90th Infantry Division during the final stage of the German campaign in Normandy.

If you haven’t watched it yet, go check out my friend Joey channel, Snafu Docs. And if you prefer, I’ll also share the link in the first comment.

Hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed making it!
